Lewiston Reservoir Being Drained for Repairs

The city of Lewiston has announced that draining of the water reservoir is taking place today, following a rupture that happened and a boil water order was initiated last Wednesday. Since then, efforts to lift the current boil water order have been taken, and work to address the damages to the reservoir has started, with the goal of restoring regular water service to Lewiston water customers as quickly as possible. In order to accomplish the work, the reservoir must be emptied, and to accomplish that, crews need to pump the remaining water out. The work was planned to begin at 8am today, and that means water may be seen in the storm-water drainage system but it should not be cause for concern. Customers may notice some discoloration in their tap water, and officials say that is normal and should not be cause for concern.
