Pikeminnow Payouts

So far this year, anglers have caught and removed more than 140,000 northern pikeminnow from the Columbia and Snake rivers, protecting hundreds of thousands of young salmon and steelhead from predation. Around 1,200 people signed up to be a part of the Northern Pikeminnow Sport Reward Program that ran from May 1 through September 30. Those anglers removed a lot of the salmon eating predators… 140,121 of them to be exact… from the two rivers. In the process, they split a little more than $1.3 Million for their efforts because the program pays registered anglers $6 to $10 per fish, nine inches or longer. The more fish an angler catches, the more each pikeminnow they reel-in is worth.
