Idaho Gets Big Payout From Feds

Idaho is set to receive $35.8M in federal land payments, and five counties in north central Idaho will see about $3 million from the federal government. The money is part of a program intended to offset the loss of property taxes on federally managed land within the state. About 63% of Idaho is federally managed lands, and that means Idaho gets the seventh-highest payment among states this year. California is receiving the most at about $59 million, followed by New Mexico and Utah at about $44 million each.
